Something Old, Something New, Something Funny and Just a Hint of Blue!

Today is kind of a big day for me - 4 months of work has come to fruition and is hitting the public. But before I share that, I have to share THIS (which happened one year ago today when out for a shoot with my Biffle *shameless plug and name drop ahead*, Heather, author of Scarves in the Round and owner of Ewe Ewe Yarns ).

Something funny and just a hint of blue!

Something funny and just a hint of blue!

You're welcome for that gem! Thank you, Facebook, for that sidetrack. But on to the Something Old and Something New!

Over the last 4 months I've been collaborating with the lovely Megan of PostStitch and the ridiculously talented Judy of The KiwiPop Studio to put together the August 2015 boxes. If you're not familiar with either company, go. Go now! Find them. Love them. Just give them all of your money 'cuz you're gonna want what they've got.

I'm lucky enough to have been asked to partner with Judy in providing designs using her yarn for the boxes. There are two boxes that have gone out: The Big Stitch and the SockStitch and I'm the designer for both. SQUEEEEEEE!

Something Old!

For the SockStitch box we decided to resurrect an older pattern of mine previously released last year: Rijel's Never Gonna Make These Socks (or HERE on Ravelry). The pattern has been updated to be a little more clear but has otherwise not changed. It's still fun and one of my favorite designs of socks. Believe it not, I don't own a pair myself. *womp womp*

And what's more - I'm going to be hosting a KAL for these socks in my Ravelry Group. If you AREN'T a member of PostStitch, well, you should be. But more importantly, you can join in the fun by getting the pattern, some awesome yarn, and joining along. It's a great way to learn how to knit socks; I'll be including ways to customize the socks to your foot and sharing some other sock tricks along the way. We'll be starting the KAL on Tuesday, August 18th in my Ravelry group.

AND! To make it fun, there's a little word game that I want to play: I want you to tell me all the places that Rijel will never make these socks. For example, to quote Megan (Post Stitch Megan, not me-in-third-person-Meaghan): Rijel's never going to knit these socks while sitting on Siesta Key Beach (which is where she was when she had the idea). I think it's brilliant. So join us, have some fun, and knit some awesome socks.

Something New!

Now, the creme de la creme of my day: a NEW PATTERN release featuring the luxurious Studio Fingering yarn (60% superwash merino wool, 30% bamboo, 10% nylon) from The Kiwipop Studio: the Show Me Yours shawl (or HERE on Ravelry)!

And guess what? Judy is not only kind and talented, she's GENEROUS too! For the month of August you can save 10% across her entire site using promo code: POSTSTITCH10. What's not to love about that?

Show Me Yours Shawl

This semi-circular shawl is a simple, but timeless, design: stockinette with eyelet divider sections, and is the perfect venue to show off an oh-so-special colorway like the "Joy" shown above. With a little lace edging to finish this shawl, it's the perfect 'get ready to show off' piece to add to your knitting collection.

If you like KALs, Megan of PostStitch is going to be hosting a KAL of this shawl in her Ravelry Group. I'll pop in from time to time to say 'hi' to please share photos, ask questions, and have fun!!!

The Story

Designed especially for the PostStitch August 2015 shipment, this shawl is designed for two colorways randomly assigned to the recipients. Because the shawl is a wonderful way to show off a variegated yarn I was hoping it would incite cries of “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours”.
